The first was Holiday Inn Express Orlando last year for $23. It was my first extreme deal and I booked two rooms as an IHG Platinum member. Check-in went smoothly, which was nice as I had no idea what to expect on my first go at it. The front desk agent remarked, “Wow, you got a pretty good rate.” I just smiled and responded, “Yeah,” and that was that. Even got one of my rooms upgraded to a jacuzzi suite.
My second experience was just a couple of months ago. The Loews Madison Hotel in Washington DC for $56. Check-in was pretty simple. Waiting for my turn at the counter, I heard a manager talking to a newer front desk clerk about the rate. Apparently they had a number of guests that day who had gotten in on the deal. Walking up I joked that I think I heard them talking about me, and they looked up my information and smiled. The first thing the manager said was not to worry, that they were honoring the rates. She also mentioned that the rate was less than they pay with their employee discount. Apart from that, the rest of the stay was uneventful. Second check-in went even smoother. Got nice rooms each time, even though the views could have been better. But I guess I can’t complain about that. Did have parking charges added to my bill each time that I had to have removed at check-out, but that was simple. Would love to see another deal at this hotel!
“Firstly thanks for all you do, enjoy the service tremendously. Was able to get into your hard rock Hollywood deal [ed: $44 at Hard Rock Fort Lauderdale Florida]
Amazing rock ‘n’ roll memorabilia collection, great staff. The pool is so spectacular and it’s heated. Always try to get a room in the North Tower as when you come off the elevator it is right near the coffee shop in the morning – super convenient and out the doors to get your pool towels right there. Odd numbered rooms face the pool and have the nicer views. Complimentary newspapers everyday at the elevators. The pool bar/grill is great. The staff are so nice, and very informative of what is good on the menu . tip – laptop at the concierge desk to print your boarding passes. Got a late (2PM) checkout. Heard that you could take showers at the spa the day you leave if you need to do that as well. Good stay. Lost a few bucks in the casino but went for the pool and to relax.
Have a great weekend.”
“I’ve taken advantage of a few of the EHD but the most memorable was the Porto Vista San Diego posted last April. I was able to scoop up 3 rooms at the $42 rate. With the hotels booked we planned a 10 person family vacation intent on taking full advantage of the chef prepared breakfast, free valet parking and welcome drinks. I wanted to ensure the hotels were secure before we left so I called to confirm we were fully booked at the correct rate and we were.
When we arrived the gentleman at the front desk grinned and commented “oh you were were one of the lucky ones who got in on that rate…three times”. The hotel stay was truly a great one. The location was excellent, near to several great eateries and the beach. On site the chef prepared breakfast was very good. The rooms were nice and comfortable and would have felt comfortable paying the higher rate on special occasion. Since we got the special rate on a normal occasion we were extremely comfortable! This was a great family road trip and we all would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the hook up!
I’ve booked multiple deals via EHD! 🙂
First, I booked a three night stay in NH Deusto Bilbao, Spain which was only $50 a night last November (2014). The hotel had no issues honoring the reservation and I was not even quizzed for the rate. 🙂
“I stayed at the Westin Chicago last year when you featured the deal for $12. It was an incredible deal. Thank you!”
“We had a really great time on your Hotel Del deal back on 08/29. We had always wanted to stay here. Such a historic building and a beautiful setting, we would come back in a heartbeat an probably will someday, but to find it for less than $100.00 on a Saturday night what a score!!! We were prepared for a less than favourable room but actually made out very well. I really enjoy your site I have taken advantage of a few deals an missed out an some too but always look forward to your texts an hopefully it will be one that works for us.
Thanks again for your site, you guys do a great job !
“The Westin Lima for roughly $24/nt in early 2014. I had two separate four-night stays with a few days in between. Here’s a quick trip report:
At checkin on the first stay, the front desk agent, pulling up my reservation, grins broadly and says, “that’s a very special promotional rate you’ve booked, congratulations. I’m sure you’ll enjoy your room.” Sure enough, it was a high floor corner junior suite – presumably the highest category upgrade offered to Starwood Platinums.
The hotel is lovely; new, stylish, sexy. More St. Regis than Westin. Excellent onsite restaurant and room service. Three pretty good meals a day in the lounge as well, and all the Inca Cola I can drink. Lima is lovely as well – this rate brought me there for the first time, and I wound up spending nearly two months there in the first half of 2014. It rapidly became one my favorite cities.
Upon my return to the Westin a few days later, a different front desk agent remembers me from the prior stay. No comment about the rate this time; instead, “Welcome back! We’ve pre-blocked you into a nice room, but if you’ll give me a minute, I’ll see if anything has opened up… Oh, you’re in luck!” This time it was a monster one-bedroom suite with a wet bar. And a dessert and a note left for someone presumably much more important than me. Another stellar stay. And the Starpoints earned from the welcome amenity and Make a Green Choice were probably worth as much as the total room rate.
Anyway, keep up the good work, and I hope to see you in the new forum.
